Most of my recent work is inspired by the overlap between written and pictorial meaning. My creative life has been centered around painting, drawing, performance, making handmade books and objects, and co-founding a conceptual bookstore called Mountain Fold Books. The engine for all these endeavors is something like listening, to the world, and I believe that’s the real practice.

Marina Eckler was born in Connecticut and grew up in an ice rink in Southern California. She received a BA in Studio Art from San Francisco State University in 1999 and an MFA from Maine College of Art and Design in 2013. She lives in Colorado with her family and teaches Visual Art at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
